Cameley Curriculum
The aim at Cameley Primary School is to provide opportunities for the children to reach their full potential by delivering an engaging curriculum to promote children's aspirations. We provide opportunities for children to develop as caring and confident learners who provide a positive contribution to our community and wider society.
We understand that when learning is exciting, creative and linked to hands-on experiences, children learn more effectively.
Our intent is to provide every child with the necessary skills, knowledge, understanding and opportunities so that they can grow into confident, thoughtful and resilient citizens. Our school curriculum is designed so that it not only provides the statutory knowledge and skills set down in the National Curriculum but it is also tailored to be exciting, relevant and meaningful providing a purposeful educational experience that reflects the needs of the individuals within our learning community.
Our aim is to enable each child, through collaborative work between home and school to thrive. It is successfully adapted to ensure all children with special educational needs and disabilities thrive, feel valued and successful with all pupils stretched, stimulated and challenged. We work together to create a safe and positive environment where everyone is valued and can experience success.
As part of the learning journey, the broad and balanced curriculum offers coherently planned and sequenced basic skills, with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to think critically and contribute to their learning journey.
Our knowledge-based approach ensures that our children receive a broad and balanced curriculum. In our Nursery and Reception, children experience a broad foundation of learning in all the expected areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. The curriculum from Key Stage 1 (KS1) through Key Stage 2 (KS2) offers the full range of National Curriculum subjects with a locally grounded framework. All pupils will secure firm foundations in English and mathematics and this will underpin a growing engagement in other subjects.
The progressive nature of our curriculum ensures our children continue to develop and grow into courageous and curious citizens. We bring our learning to life, making it purposeful, meaningful and engaging, thereby enabling our children to grow into confident young people who possess the skills necessary to become life-long, successful learners, those who take informed risks and celebrate their mistakes as much as their successes.
Our school curriculum is based on:
- The 2014 National Curriculum
- The statutory framework for the EYFS
- Locally agreed syllabus for Religious Education
- Purple Mash for Computing
- Jigsaw PSHE
- Art and Design Technology based around Kapow
- A scheme of learning for History, Geography, Art and Design, based around our local environment
Children's knowledge, skills and understanding are developed through studying subjects as discrete disciplines.
