MATHS

At Cameley Primary School, the intention of our maths curriculum is to create young mathematicians who are confident and aware of their own knowledge. Our ambition is for all children at Cameley Primary School to experience the enjoyment of maths, experience the wonder and variety of problems and applications that the subject presents. We enhance positive attitude towards the subject, ensuring all children understand that they can do maths and that their journey as mathematicians can be long, varied, and exciting.

At Cameley, our maths curriculum is structured around the White Rose framework. This ensures continuity and progression across the school. Our curriculum will provide a variety of concrete, pictorial and abstract representations of mathematical processes to children of all ages.

We aim for all children to be fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, through varied and frequent practice with increasing complex problems over time, so that pupils develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately. At Cameley, maths is delivered daily, including number fact fluency through activities such as: Number Sense, Fluent in 5, Flashback 4, Maths Talk and times table’s challenges at the beginning of maths lessons.
